Help USPS ‘Deliver For America’, Job Fair Seeks Applicants

NORWICH, CT — On Sept. 30, the Norwich Post Office (292 Salem Turnpike, Norwich, CT 06360) is offering extra support for those interested in a postal career.

The 6-hour job fair aims to fill immediate openings for city carrier assistants, rural carrier associates and retail associates (postal support employee) and offers applicants a chance to learn more about career and part-time opportunities.

Staff will be on-site to assist applicants from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The job fair is part of the U.S. Postal Service’s 10-year plan, “Delivering for America” to build a more stable and empowered workforce.

Hiring for all positions:

City Carrier Assistant: $19.33 per hour paid bi-weekly.
Delivers and collects mail on foot or by vehicle under varying road and weather conditions in a prescribed area; maintains professional and effective public relations with customers and others, requiring a general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, products and procedures commonly used, and geography of the area.

Rural Carrier Associate: $19.94 per hour paid bi-weekly.
Cases, delivers, and collects mail along a prescribed rural route using a vehicle; provides customers on the route with a variety of services.

Postal Support Employee: $20.05 per hour paid bi-weekly.
Performs distribution and a variety of sales and customer support services for products. Maintains pleasant and effective public relations with customers and others requiring a general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, and procedures commonly used.
