MOODUS, CT — Moodus, CT, Post Office earned first place in a national USPS retail challenge, which began last October and lasted for five weeks. The contest was designed to determine the nation’s Post Office with the best customer service.
Similar to many sports championships, there were rounds of elimination and opportunities to move ahead. The Post Offices who received the highest number of Point-of-Sale (POS) surveys from its customers progressed in the challenge.
The finals featured four Post Offices in four different states: Moodus, CT; Midlothian, TX; Lawndale, CA; and Lakeside, CA.
The last round was between Moodus and Lawndale with Moodus prevailing as national champion.
At a March 6 award ceremony, Moodus was presented with a traveling trophy. In attendance were USPS VP Retail and Post Office Operations Elvin Mercado, USPS Area VP Retail and Delivery Scott Raymond, Connecticut District Manager Carissa Laino, Postmaster Sandra Gamberale and Sales and Service Associate Sunish Thomas.
Thomas is the lead Sales and Service Associate at Moodus and knows all his customers by name. “I really enjoy when the customer is happy – when they leave with a smile on their face, that gives me job satisfaction,” said Thomas.

Recognizing their hard work and commitment not only reflects my appreciation but also inspires continued excellence and fosters a culture of acknowledgement and motivation across our organization. We are truly fortunate to have such an incredible team,” said Mercado.
The traveling trophy will stay at Moodus Post Office until next year’s national champion is crowned.
