Background:

Tricia Lucas began her permanent postal career as a letter carrier in 1999 and has held numerous executive positions as she rose through the ranks.

“I am proud to say that I have been an employee of the Postal Service for over 25 years,” said Lucas. “I began my career as a letter carrier and moved into management through the Postal Service’s Associate Supervisor Program.

“In 2007, I was awarded a manager of customer service position at the Hartford Post Office. In this position, I managed 289 delivery routes and 11 finance stations,” she added.

Her training has included detail positions such as: acting Postmaster of Hartford, acting senior delivery operations analyst, acting manager budget, acting district finance manager and manager operations programs support.

Her most recent position prior to Postmaster was manager, operations integration for the Connecticut District.

“All these positions have given me different experiences that have heightened my development as a leader and expanded my cross-functional knowledge,” said Lucas.

Lucas is currently working towards completing a bachelor’s degree in business management and organizational leadership (double major) with a concentration in project management.

“Being a leader is not all about your successes but focusing on developing others to be successful as well.

“I encourage a work environment that breeds strategic thinking, innovation, and action. Lastly, I believe that a leader needs to maintain a flexible mindset. They need to be willing to try new ideas; be focused on the future understanding that change is occurring all around us and being future-ready will be a strength,” said Lucas.
