No Appointment Needed for Passport Photos and Applications During Old Saybrook Post Office Passport Fair, May 16

OLD SAYBROOK, CT — Old Saybrook Post Office is giving early birds a headstart on passport applications on Saturday, May 16.

At 7:45 a.m., Post Office (36 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475) doors will open for passport services (no appointment required) and trained staff will review documents until 1:45 p.m. – giving summer planners a chance to get ahead of schedule.

During the event, customers can submit applications for a new passport book or passport card, have their documents reviewed by trained staff, get photos taken and take advantage of a streamlined application process.

Applicants need to:

  • Bring proper proof of American citizenship. This must be either a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state; a previous U.S. passport; a certificate of citizenship; or a naturalization certificate (please note: a hospital-issued birth certificate alone is not acceptable.)
  • Bring proof of identity. This must be either: a recently issued U.S. passport; a recently issued naturalization certificate; a recently issued certificate of citizenship; or a current valid driver’s license, government ID or military photo ID.

The passport application requires recent color passport photograph of you (2” x 2” in size). Applicants can opt to bring their own passport photos or have them taken on-site for $15.

Complete your Form DS-11 Application for U.S. Passport on the State Department website and print the application. Do not sign the application.

If you are eligible to renew your passport complete Passport Renewal Application Form DS-82 and print the application. Do not sign the application.

Bring the competed applications (unsigned) to the passport event. All applicants must appear in person (including minors).

Each passport for an adult must be accompanied by a check or money order for $130 (adult) and $100 (minor), made payable to the U.S. Department of State and a $35 acceptance fee made payable to USPS. Expedited services are available for an additional fee.

Passport customers may also check the U.S. State Department’s web site at www.travel.state.gov to obtain additional information. Customers may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778.
