Media invited for behind the scenes look at holiday mail sortation

Media is invited to join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour of how letters are processed and sorted during our busiest delivery week of the year.

Background:
USPS is projecting nearly 13 billion cards and letters and 800 million packages this holiday season. Nearly 200 million packages are expected to be delivered during the busiest week, Dec. 16-22, and about the same the week prior.
During the tour, reporters are encouraged to arrange for a “live shot” for local news broadcasts. Press kits with holiday facts and information will be available.
(Note: For safety reasons, those who accept this invitation must wear closed toe/closed heel shoes; heels must be no more than 1.5 inches in height.)
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
