USPS to Hold Public Meeting in Gainesville

February 18 meeting to discuss relocation of retail services

GAINESVILLE, FL — The U.S. Postal Service will be relocating the retail services at the University Station Post Office, 1630 NW 1st Ave., Gainesville, FL, to a yet-to-be determined location as close as reasonably possible to the existing location.

The U.S. Postal Service invites the community to learn more about this project at a public meeting on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, 6:00 p.m., at the Alachua County Library – Headquarters Branch, 401 E. University Ave., Meeting Room A, and Gainesville, FL, 32601. Officials with the Postal Service’s Facilities Department will be there to share information and answer questions.

Additionally, for 30 days after the public meeting, anyone may submit written comments to the address below for the Postal Service’s consideration prior to its final decision:

The Postal Service will consider all comments prior to making its final decision.  All comments and recommendations received by March 19, 2020, will be considered. 

A public notice, along with a copy of the Postal Service’s letter to the Gainesville mayor, is currently posted in the lobby of the Gainesville University Station Post Office.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
