Oct. 25, 2021
What:
South Florida media representatives are invited to behind-the-scenes tours of mail processing operations in Miami and Opa-locka in early November.
The U.S. Postal Service is ready for a successful 2021 holiday season:
-- Hiring 40,000 delivery and mail processing personnel nationwide (including several hundred in South Florida)
-- Leasing millions of additional square feet of sortation facilities (including a Package Support Annex in Opa-locka to supplement the Royal Palm Processing and Distribution Center)
-- Installing new processing equipment (currently a package sorter is being installed at the Package Support Annex in Opa-Locka, FL).
It’s all part of the Postmaster General’s “Delivering for America” 10-Year Plan --- which includes $40 billion in new investments --- to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence.
