USPS Invites Media to Join Santa Claus On Mail Processing Tours This Week

Miami, FL — Ho! Ho! Ho! The 2021 holiday season is just around the corner.

Postal officials have confirmed that Santa Claus will be taking a non-stop flight from the North Pole to South Florida this week. He’ll be making his list, and checking it twice, observing mail processing operations to ensure that the U.S. Postal Service is well prepared to handle the increase in holiday cards, letters, and packages this year.

Local postal officials are inviting media representatives to join Santa as he tours mail processing operations at the following locations:

Wednesday, November 3, 10 a.m. – 12 Noon
Royal Palm Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) – package processing
5500 NW 142 Street, Opa-locka, FL 33054-9998

Friday, November 5, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Miami Processing and Distribution Center (P&DC) – cards and letter mail processing
2200 NW 72 Avenue, Miami, FL 33152-9998

The U.S. Postal Service has been preparing all year for the holiday season. The “Delivering for America” 10-year plan, which modernizes the U.S. Postal Service, was implemented to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence. During the tours, you’ll learn more about the plan, which includes a 40-billion-dollar investment in employees, equipment, and technology.

RSVP to debbie.j.fetterly@usps.gov no later than Close Of Business (COB) Tuesday, November 2.

Note: Due to safety requirements, closed-toed, low-heeled shoes must be worn. Due to the pandemic, please wear a mask as well.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
