Jacquelyn Villemaire Takes Oath of Office as 45th Tampa Postmaster

TAMPA, FL — Jacquelyn R. Villemaire will become the 45th Tampa Postmaster, dating to 1831 when William G. Sanders was the first Postmaster.  On Friday, June 24, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., Villemaire will take her official oath as Tampa Postmaster at The Davis Islands Garden Club, 81 Columbia Drive, Tampa, FL 33606. Timothy Costello, Vice President, Retail & Delivery Operations, Southern Area, will administer the official oath of office.

Villemaire started her postal career as a mail processing clerk at the Tampa Processing & Distribution Center in 1996. She was promoted to her first supervisor position in Anchorage, AK in 1999 after graduating from the U.S. Postal Service’s Associate Supervisor Program. She progressed through the managerial ranks, holding several positions of increasing responsibility, including Manager, Customer Service Operations in Orlando, Suncoast District Marketing Manager in Tampa and Acting Southern Area Marketing Manager in Dallas, TX, in which she oversaw Marketing and Retail efforts in seven states.  

Villemaire began her quest to become a Postmaster by holding Officer In Charge positions in Ocoee, St. Cloud and Daytona Beach, FL, eventually becoming Postmaster in Ocoee as well as in Apopka, Longwood and St. Petersburg. She served as the executive-level Postmaster of Tampa prior to being selected as its 45th Postmaster.

Throughout her postal career, Villemaire has demonstrated strong leadership and a proven ability to develop cooperative teamwork between various operational and customer service units. “My goal as Postmaster is to improve customer relations and the overall image of the postal brand with timely and efficient delivery and a courteous retail experience with every customer transaction,” she said.

Villemaire has been happily married to Charles, her husband of 32 years. He is a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. They have two sons, Joshua and Ryan.

As Postmaster, Villemaire is responsible for all delivery and retail operations for Tampa with 533 city and rural routes, 25,014 P.O. Boxes, and more than 377,492 business and residential delivery points. Villemaire manages 21 Post Office branches where 1,000 employees process and deliver more than 380,522 mail pieces daily.
