COCOA BEACH, FL – Postmaster Christy Murphy has been Delivering for America since serving her country in the U.S. Army and later as a letter carrier in Fort Myers Beach.

"After leaving the military, I became a stay-at-home mom to raise my two children," she says. "When I decided to rejoin the workforce, the Postal Service was my first choice."

"I grew up in Cape Coral and wanted a job that I could work outside and interact with customers," said Murphy, who began her career with USPS in March 2013. "As a Postmaster, I plan to engage more with the community and businesses. Our post offices also serve as a lifeline for our small businesses to reach customers no matter where they are, and I can explain the benefits of using the Postal Service for their mailing and shipping needs."

Murphy has worked in various capacities in Fort Myers, Vero Beach, and Titusville, including letter carrier, supervisor, and station manager. As Cocoa Beach Postmaster, she will oversee a retail unit, 11 city routes, and 26 employees.

"The Delivering for American plan announced by our Postmaster General two years ago establishes a path to building a Postal Service that is financially strong and consistently delivers on time for the American public," she adds. "Every day, every employee in Cocoa Beach, no matter their assignment, is 'Delivering for America,'" she says with a smile.

Murphy has been married for 20 years to her husband, Patrick. They have a daughter, a son serving in the Navy, and two grandchildren. She holds degrees in General Studies and Accounting and is finishing up degrees in Business Management and Forensic Accounting. 

"I enjoy reading, cross-stitching, the beach, and spending time with my grandchildren," she says, ticking off her spare time activities. 

"The Postal Service and its employees have become my second family," says Murphy. "It's been a great opportunity, and I encourage others looking for a career to consider USPS."
