ST. PETERSBURG, FL — As part of the United States Postal Service’s “For the Long Haul” initiative, we are proud to celebrate Michael Mignone, a dedicated Letter Carrier, who has faithfully served the St. Petersburg, FL community for over 55 years. Michael’s unwavering commitment and exceptional service have made him a beloved figure in the neighborhood he serves.
“For the Long Haul” is an initiative designed to honor the remarkable dedication of long-serving employees like Michael, who have become integral parts of their communities. Over the years, he has developed lasting relationships with residents, going above and beyond to ensure their mail is delivered with care and reliability.
After one year of military service, Michael Mignone began his career with USPS in 1970 in St. Petersburg, when it was still the Department of the Post Office. He has served at multiple St. Pete offices but has been on his current route for the last 10 years and has over 5,200 hours of sick leave.
Michael is a dedicated community member, actively participating in organizations like the Masons, VFW, ELKS, Eagles, and the American Legion. Regardless of the weather, he consistently delivers the mail with a smile and a kind word for everyone he encounters.
St. Petersburg, FL Supervisor, Customer Services Jay Trujillo said, “Mike is one of the most dependable carriers we have. Everyone calls him Mike ‘The Machine’ Mignone because he doesn't break down and never takes time off!”
