FLORIDA KEYS — Today is April Fools’ Day, but this announcement is no joke. One week from today (that’s Wednesday, April 8), Florida Keys residents may visit the Marathon Post Office, 5171 Overseas Highway, Marathon, FL 33050, and apply for a postal delivery job between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Just ask Marathon Postmaster Shaneka Small and Manager, Post Office Operations Juan Febres who will host a job fair for Islamorada, Key Largo, Marathon, Summerland Key, and Tavernier delivery positions:

Rural Carrier Associate (RCA)
An RCA delivers and collects packages along routes in rural areas during weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This employee also provides a variety of services to customers along their assigned route. The position may require the use of a personal vehicle if a postal vehicle is not provided. An RCA may be eligible to receive health benefits and promotion to a career opportunity. This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy staying active and working independently outdoors with occasional customer service interactions. Choose your employment location among Islamorada, Key Largo, Marathon, Summerland Key, and Tavernier.

Assistant Rural Carrier (ARC)
An ARC primarily delivers and collects packages along a designated route in suburban and rural areas. This employee may be required to provide a personal vehicle to use for mail and package delivery on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (a weekend and holiday only position). This employee may provide package delivery up to seven days a week in Key Largo or Tavernier.

Both RCA and ARC pay $21.89 per hour. Job duties include:

• Lifting and pushing moderate to heavy loads of mail and packages to prepare for delivery
• Delivering mail along an assigned route
• Picking up and collecting mail from customers
• Selling stamps, stamped paper and money orders or other services
• Working indoors and outdoors (all weather including rain, cold, and heat)
