Kahului Post Office to Host Passport Fair on Saturday, Mar. 26

Opportunity for Valley Isle Residents Planning Summer Travel

What:

The Kahului Post Office is hosting its first Passport Fair event of the year, at which postal employees will accept applications for new U.S. passports.

“My postal clerks and I are coming into the office on a weekend to help customers who want to kick-start their summer travel plans,” said Kahului Postmaster Nerisha Niu. “Now that COVID-19 concerns are declining, many Valley Isle residents are eager to get out and see the world. For anyone traveling internationally, the first step is to get a passport. We’ll be here on Mar. 26 to help them with that.”

About 500 passports were processed at a half-dozen Passport Fairs held at the Kahului Post Office in 2021.

Background:

Customers can register for this event by sending an email to HawaiiPassportFair@state.gov Advance registration is required, and space is limited--only 100 appointment slots are available. Walk-in customers with completed paperwork will be accommodated only if time permits.

Applicants are advised to complete their DS-11 application for a new passport in advance, print it and bring it unsigned to the event with an acceptable passport photo, fees, and documents. Passport application fees can be paid with cash, debit card or personal check.

Passport applicants must wear facemasks and adhere to social distancing guidelines at the event.

The Passport Agency reminds travelers to submit their passport applications as early as possible, far in advance of planned travel to avoid problems with receiving their passports.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
