Pahala Post Office Reopens for Business

Retail Lobby Had Closed After Big Island Earthquakes

PAHALA — The Pahala Post Office will reopen for business as usual on Friday, Oct. 21.

The retail lobby of the facility had been temporarily closed since last Friday as a result of damage to some of its interior light fixtures caused by last week’s Big Island earthquakes.

Before reopening the Pahala Post Office, USPS leadership conducted a thorough assessment of the facility to ensure that it was safe for its employees and customers.

We want to thank our customers for their patience and flexibility during our temporary closure,” said Pahala Postmaster Gina Gomes. “We are excited and happy to be able to reopen our facility and resume full service to the Pahala community.”

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
