Featured Postmasters Honored by USPS Hawaii Leaders
KAUAI – Thanks to beloved Disney character—and reputed Garden Isle resident—Lilo, everyone knows that “Ohana means family.” For the U.S. Postal Service, ohana also describes its extended and close-knit team of Kauai postal employees.
That postal family, led by members of the USPS Hawaii’s leadership team, gathered in Lihue last week to celebrate the official installation of six of Kauai’s postmasters, or half of the island’s cohort of a dozen postmasters.
USPS Hawaii District Manager Eileen Veach and Manager of Post Office Operations Ty Sobieraj recognized and administered the official oaths of office to Charles Atkinson (Kilauea postmaster), Leah Caoagas (Koloa), Rhonda Eguchi (Kalaheo), Tavey Inouye (Kapaa), Marissa Okamoto (Waimea), and Zachary Vanwingerden (Hanalei).
“This event was a very proud moment for these postmasters and their families,” said Veach. “The administration of the oath of office to these postmasters at the installation affirms their allegiance to the mission of the Postal Service and to the nation as a whole..
“These individuals are committed to serving their customers with integrity and upholding the trust placed in them by USPS. The Kauai postal ohana, in particular, is an outstanding team that supports each other and is dedicated to the communities they serve.”
The event featured postmasters from other Kauai post offices, family members of the honored postmasters, food and floral décor, and plenty of postal pride.
