Davenport Post Office Taking Additional Precautionary Flood Measures

DAVENPORT, IA — Due to area flooding caused from a levee of the Mississippi River, the Davenport Post Office located at 933 W 2nd, is taking additional precautionary measures to ensure we continue providing service to our customers while keeping the safety of our customers and employees at the forefront.

Effective Wednesday, May 1, 2019, the Davenport Post Office will temporarily close its retail operations.  Currently Post Office Box delivery and customer pick-up is still available, as well as package pick-up and Business Mail Entry.  Please visit the blue Dutch door for assistance with these actions.

The Postal Service once again asks its customers to refrain from using the front entrance before 10AM to allow drivers and carriers to unload and load mail with the closure of the rear lot.  This will allow our carriers to depart from the Post Office without obstructions or delays.

Retail services are available at the Davenport Northwest Station located at 4018 N Marquette with full hours of 8:30AM – 5:00PM Monday through Friday and 9:30AM – 1:00PM on Saturday.

If the main Davenport Post Office experiences water intrusion, alternate plans are in place to ensure we provide uninterrupted service.  A notification outlining our contingency plan will be sent immediately should that event occur.

The Postal Service apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.  Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through this unfortunate weather event.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
