The Postmaster General (PMG) Heroes’ program was developed to recognize heroic acts and compassionate deeds of postal employee.  With a workforce of nearly 650,000 and a daily presence in every community in the nation, postal employees often are the first to know when something goes wrong in a neighborhood.

PMG Heroes are recognized for heroic acts, including reuniting lost children with their parents, providing life-saving medical care, extinguishing fires, alerting customers to hazards, assisting at traffic accidents, helping injured customers and contacting authorities to conduct wellness checks on elderly or disabled customers.

The objective of the program:

To recognize and support the integral role postal employees have played in the daily lives of American citizens for 245 years, and to recognize, thank and support those employees who perform heroic acts or compassionate deeds.

To support employee morale and foster pride in the Postal Service by acknowledging employees’ heroic acts, performed above and beyond their daily duties.

To raise awareness of corporate social responsibility contributions by postal employees who serve as “the eyes and ears of their communities.”
