Manages USPS Services for the Melba and Murphy, Idaho Communities
Khrista Holman is the new Postmaster at the Melba Post Office. She and her service dog Lancelot, provide customers with retail services and mail delivery in both the Melba and Murphy communities in Idaho.
Holman began her Postal career 20 years ago as a carrier in Nampa, ID. She has held many positions within the Postal Service throughout the last two decades serving as a carrier, a supervisor in Boise, Postmaster in Cambridge, ID — traveling 180 miles round trip — before her latest appointment as the Melba Postmaster. She has also helped as an Officer in Charge (OIC) in Coeur D’Alene when they were short-handed.
She has found something to enjoy in all of her positions, but one job in particular stands out for her, “When I became a Postmaster is when I felt the rewards. I have had more time to help people learn, go to offices that need help, and have time to learn more for myself.”
In her new role Holman oversees 10 employees in both the Melba and Murphy offices, as well as ensuring both communities get their mail and outstanding customer service. Her knowledge and desire to help other offices, co-workers, and customers where and when she is needed exemplifies one piece of the Postal Service’s “Delivering for America” 10-year plan to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence.
“The Postal Service is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever done. I look forward to getting to know the community.”
Prior to her career with the Postal Service, Holman earned an electrical degree from Boise State University and worked as an electrician. She chose to join the Postal Service as a “long term career decision which could provide for my family.”
She says the Postal Service communication technology has evolved by “leaps and bounds” within the last few years through better computers and upgraded scanners.
Holman lives with her husband of nearly 20 years, her son, and her service dog Lancelot. Her son is part of his high school marching band. In her downtime she serves on the high school band committee and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. They can be found hiking, fishing, camping, or just floating along one of the many Idaho rivers.
