Asking for Input from the Community
The Postal Service has begun the research process for a new Post Office location in Ponderay, Idaho within the 83852 ZIP Code. The first part of this process includes asking for input from the community regarding the facility needs.
The proposed project includes finding a suitable location for the new retail space as close as reasonably possible to the current location, preparing it for use as a Post Office, and transitioning operations from the current facility to the new facility.
Customers living and working within the affected area will soon receive postcards in the mail. These postcards will contain information on the specific needs of the Postal Service, the potential site locations, the desired size of the new facility, and how the public can provide comments. Information will also be posted in the lobby of the current Post Office. The public has 30 days to provide comments following the notifications.
Comments will also be accepted in writing beginning today through the next 30 days. Please send all correspondence to:
United States Postal Service
Attn: Ponderay ID Relocation
PO BOX 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103
After the 30-day comment period, the Postal Service will consider suggestions and make a final determination on next steps.
It’s important to remember, a project of this magnitude takes time. And the postal service is still in the early stages of research and planning. As such, there is no anticipated date or final approval for the new facility to be operational. We look forward to hearing from the community on this process.
Improving our facilities is just one part of the Postal Service’s larger 10-year Delivering for America plan to achieve financial stability and service excellence.
