The Postal Service is proposing to move the Ponderay Post Office located at 296 4th St., to a new site at 480 Bonner Mall Way. The new location is less than one mile — three minutes — from the current Post Office.

The Postal Service sent out postcards in May 2024 asking for community input and public comment regarding the move. The feedback was reviewed and the decision to relocate the Post Office is moving forward.

In the interest of creating the least disruption for the community the Postal Service looked for a location close to the current facility. The new, proposed site is less than one mile from the current office location.

The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as are currently provided to our customers at the existing location. Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the new location is operational.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Ponderay community, public input was properly considered, and the decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives.

Improving our facilities is just one part of the Postal Service’s larger 10-year Delivering for America plan to achieve financial stability and service excellence.
