Chicago Post Offices Closed July 4

Customers Can View Hold Mail While Away with Informed Delivery

CHICAGO IL — Chicago Post Offices will be closed on Saturday, July 4, 2020 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. There will not be any mail delivery or retail service on July 4.  All services resume on Monday, July 6.  Post Offices will be open regularly scheduled hours on Friday, July 3 with regular delivery.

Customers who wish to purchase stamps, mail packages, or ship urgent letters or packages on July 4 may use the Self Service Kiosks available at select post offices. The ATM-like kiosk accepts credit or debit cards only and can handle about 80 percent of typical postal transactions – like weigh packages and dispense postage for Priority Express, Priority, First-Class and Parcel Post mail.  Self Service Kiosks are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.   To obtain the phone number of a specific Post Office, customers may call 1-800-ASK-USPS.

Whether customers are in town or travelling during a holiday week, Informed Delivery helps residential customers preview their incoming mail including their Hold Mail while away.  More than 26 million Informed Delivery users who opt-in to receive email notifications can now view their mail in daily emails and also see tracking information about the expected delivery of their packages. Also, users are able to track package deliveries, leave delivery instructions and schedule redelivery from the online Informed Delivery dashboard.  More information is available at informeddelivery.usps.com.    Customers can also go to usps.com to place their mail on hold.
