USPS Job Fair at Champaign P&DC

Champaign Illinois 61821 – The Postal Service is hosting job fairs nationwide as part of “Delivering for America,” the 10-year plan for financial sustainability and service excellence. USPS is preparing for the higher delivery demands of the 2021 holiday peak season through increased hiring of delivery and processing operations personnel.

If you’re looking for a job with the U.S. Postal Service and live in the Champaign area, we want you. The Champaign Post Office is hosting a job fair at the Champaign Processing and Distribution Center on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

All COVID safety guidelines will be observed including face coverings and social distancing.

USPS is recruiting for all positions including city carrier assistant (CCA), rural carrier associate (RCA), assistant rural carrier (ARC), mailhandler assistant (MHA), Postal support employee (PSE), tractor trailer operator (TTO) and automotive technician (AT).  

Attendees will be given the opportunity to bring their own laptops or tablets loaded with their own wi-fi or hot spot (Internet service not provided by Postal Service). We will assist as much as possible with creating a candidate profile and searching for vacancies.

The Postal Service currently has vacancies for city carrier assistant — ($18.51 per hour), rural carrier associate — ($19.06 per hour), and assistant rural carrier ($19.06 per hour) — Saturdays, Sundays and observed holidays only. USPS also needs Postal support employee mail processing clerks ($18.69 per hour), mailhandler assistant ($16.87 per hour).

If driving is part of the job, applicants will need a valid driver’s license, two years’ driving experience, and a good driving record.

USPS also has vacancies for the career positions of tractor trailer operators (TTO) and automotive technicians (AT).

The starting salary for the tractor trailer operators’ position is $23.74 per hour paid bi-weekly. Applicants must have a safe driving record and at least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger vehicles, and one year of full-time unsupervised experience (or equivalent) driving a 7-ton or larger truck, or tractor-trailer.

The starting salary for the automotive technician’s position is $47,471 paid bi-weekly. Applicants will be required to perform routine and complex repairs and maintenance on all types of motor vehicles used in the postal fleet as well as troubleshoot and diagnose more complex vehicle malfunctions using a variety of computerized test equipment.

The city carrier assistant, rural carrier associate, PSE mail processing clerk and mail handler assistants are non-career positions that offer limited health benefits but may lead to regular full-time employment with the Postal Service. Assistant rural carrier positions do not follow a career path.
