Collection Box Fire in Rockton - Customers Asked to Contact Post Office if they put Mail in the Box Sunday

ROCKTON, IL — Due to a fire in a collection box in Rockton over the weekend customers who placed mail in the box late Saturday or Sunday are asked to contact the Rockton office. Some of the damaged mail is unidentifiable.

The majority of the mail has been identified by either the sender or the recipient and letters have been sent by the Rockton Post Office to those customers.

The Rockton office location is 214 W. Main St. with hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Phone number: (815) 624-6281.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
