The U.S. Postal Service is mailing a postcard to the affected Bloomington addresses announcing a proposed relocation of the Bloomington Finance Station currently located at 400 N Center St, Bloomington, IL 61701-3908. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Background::

The Postal Service is considering the relocation because of the potential loss of lease due to the city’s potential redevelopment of the property. Postal Service is now looking for a new retail location within one mile of the current facility with the desire to be in the downtown area. The desired new facility needs to be in an existing building that is approximately 1,300 square feet with 15+ dedicated parking.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue at the current Post Office until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

We are inviting comments or suggestions on the proposal and request they be sent to the following address within the next 30 days from delivery of the postcard: United States Postal Service, ATTN: Bloomington Finance Station Relocation, PO BOX 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103. 

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
