Act of Congress designates facility as Joseph “Joey” W. Dimock II Post Office Building.
CHICAGO, IL — The Grayslake IL Post Office will have its building named in honor of Army Specialist Joseph “Joey” W. Dimock II at a ceremony, Monday, July 10 at 10 a.m.
On December 27, 2022, legislation to designate the Post Office building located at 75 Commerce Drive in Grayslake, Illinois, as the Joseph “Joey” W. Dimock II Post Office Building was signed into law by the President. This legislation was introduced in the United States House of Representatives by Rep. Bradley Schneider.
Joining Rep. Schneider at the ceremony will be USPS Central Area Vice President, Eric Henry, acting Illinois 1 District Manager, Jewel Morrow, Post Office Operations Manager, Ben Giese, Mayor of Grayslake, Rhett Taylor and Ellen Dimock, mother of Joey Dimock II.
Army Specialist Joey Dimock joined the Army and began his service in August 2007. He served for nearly 3 years with the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He was serving his third overseas deployment, his second in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, when he died on July 10, 2010, in Salerno, Afghanistan. SPC Dimock received several awards through his years of service to our country, including the Bronze Star Medal and Army Commendation Medal.
