EUREKA, IL— Thirty-year Postal Service employee, Tim Welch will receive the Million Mile Award, Tuesday, August 27 at the Eureka Post Office at an 8:00 a.m. ceremony. The Eureka Post Office is located at 106 W. Eureka Avenue, Eureka, IL 61530.
Welch, a city letter carrier, earned the National Safety Council (NSC) award in recognition of his stellar safe driving record. The NSC Million Mile Award recognizes drivers with 1 million miles of driving or 30 accumulated years driven without preventable incidents.
Besides having thirty years of service as a “Long Haul” employee with the Postal Service, Welch is also a United States Air Force veteran. The Postal Service is the largest employer of veterans. Welch will receive the Million Mile Award from Manager of Post Office Operations Mark Wilson and Eureka Postmaster Brian Shirey.
The Million Mile Club is part of the Safe Driver Award program created by the National Safety Council. The Safe Driver Award is the trademark of the expert driver and is recognized as the nation’s highest award for professional safe driving.###
