IINDIANAPOLIS, IN – Have you ever wondered how to apply for a job with the U.S. Postal Service? To assist you, USPS is organizing a Job Fair in Indianapolis on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. USPS employees will be on hand with information on completing applications, and also will show videos that describe the variety of jobs in the Postal Service.

On an ongoing basis, the Postal Service has vacancies for city carrier assistant ($17.29 per hour), rural carrier associate ($17.78 per hour), and assistant rural carrier ($17.78 per hour — Saturdays, Sundays and observed holidays only). Each of these jobs require two years’ driving experience, and a good driving record.
USPS also has vacancies in mail processing positions —Postal Support Employee (PSE) mail processing clerk and PSE sales & service/distribution associate ($17.29 per hour), mail handler assistant ($16.21 per hour) and mail handler casual ($14.25 per hour). Also available from time to time is Postmaster relief/replacement ($13.13 per hour) for Post Offices open no more than two hours a day.
As the holidays approach, the Postal Service will be also be hiring a number of seasonal positions.
These are all non-career positions that offer limited health benefits, but usually lead to regular full-time employment with the Postal Service.
Full-time positions are also regularly available including Automotive Technician (mechanic — starting salary of $44,525 per year), Laborer Custodian (starting at $15.67 per hour) and part-time flexible Tractor Trailer Operator/Driver ($22.26 per hour).
Tractor Trailer Operators must have two or more years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger vehicles, and one year of full-time unsupervised experience (or equivalent) driving a 7-ton or larger truck, tractor-trailer or a 16-passenger or larger bus. They also must have a current valid state Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Attendees must be over 17 years of age.
Applicants for all USPS positions must be a United States Citizen, a lawful permanent resident alien, a citizen of American Samoa or any other territory owing allegiance to the United States.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
