Indianapolis Post Office May Experience Temporary Delay of Service

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indianapolis Post Office is working with local authorities to monitor the safety and security of customers and employees should incidents of civil unrest occur. Mail deliveries will continue, although some disruptions may occur in isolated areas that might experience civil unrest.

From Saturday, January 16, 2021 through Wednesday, January 20, 2021 collection boxes at the following locations will be sealed off — 150 W. Market Street — inside box at the Indiana State Teachers Association — and blue collection box located directly outside the building. The Postal Service is also sealing two collection boxes located inside the State Capitol Building at 200 W. Washington Street, as well as a collection box that sits inside the building adjacent to the State Capitol at 100 N. Senate Avenue.

All the boxes will have information about the nearest collection box and Post Office where customers can drop off their mail during that time.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the possible disruption of service,” said Acting Indianapolis Postmaster Dale Sparks. “The safety and well-being of our employees and our customers is of paramount concern to us,” he said.

At this time, all Post Office retail operations are open.

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to obtain information, or check the Postal Service website: www.usps.com. The Post Office is always open at www.usps.com.  The Postal Service’s smartphone app makes it even quicker to use the most popular functions on usps.com, anytime and anywhere.
