Notice of Comment Period

Proposed Relocation of the Dugger Post Office

What:

The U.S. Postal Service is mailing a postcard to Dugger addresses, announcing a proposed relocation of the Dugger IN Post Office, previously located at 8182 Main Street, Dugger, IN 47848-9998. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Who:

USPS Real Estate Specialist Greg Shelton

Background:

Due to structural damage, the Postal Service is now looking for a new retail location within the 47848 ZIP Code. The desired size of the new facility is approximately 990 gross square feet with 11+ dedicated parking spaces. The Postal Service will also consider leasing land that is approximately 14,500 SF to place a modular building.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue temporarily at the Sullivan Post Office located at 103 E Washington St. until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, instead of a public meeting, we are inviting comments on the proposal and request they be sent to the following address within the next 30 days: United States Postal Service, ATTN: Dugger, IN Relocation, PO BOX 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
