Postal Service presents 50-year Service Award

GARY, IN — Mail Processing Clerk Joynice Porter knows a thing or two about having a long career. On July 1, she celebrated her 50-year anniversary with the Postal Service.

Postal officials celebrated Porter’s milestone with a special presentation in front of her coworkers and friends at the Gary Processing and Distribution Center.

In her comments at the ceremony, Porter said she was thankful her children, grandchildren, family, and coworkers. “I feel blessed because I have my health, strength, and wellbeing.” She also stated she was thankful to the Postal Service the opportunities she has had since beginning her career in 1973. “The Postal Service has been good to me, and I have been good to the Postal Service,” she added.

Acting Gary Plant Manager Glenn Hagler praises Porter’s amazing work ethic. “Joynice is the most engaged employee that I have ever had the pleasure of working with in all my years with the Postal Service. She is simply the best,” he said.
