KOKOMO, IN – Letter Carrier Kevin Clevenger celebrated his 50-year anniversary with the Postal Service during a ceremony at the Kokomo Post Office.

In addition to his long postal career, Clevenger is also an Army and Army Reserve National Guard veteran. When asked the reason he has worked so long, Clevenger said, “This is the greatest job in the world”. He has spent his entire postal career in Kokomo.

Postal officials celebrated Clevenger’s milestone with a special presentation in front of his coworkers, friends, and family at the Kokomo Sorting and Distribution Center. Special guests included National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Business Agent David Mudd, Post Office Operations Manager Nick Wells, and Indiana District Manager Christi Johnson-Kennedy.

Clevenger was particularly proud to introduce his 97-year-old mother, Joanna, who he credited for all the good things in his life.

Wife, Pam, who is a retired letter carrier, said Clevenger had mixed emotions about this extraordinary service award saying, “He doesn’t like all this attention, but really does love his job. He loves being able to work outdoors.” Daughter, Brooke, was also on hand to support her father.

Retired Letter Carrier Morrie Myers made a special effort to attend the event. “You always set a good example for everyone. I love you like a brother,” he told Clevenger.

“It’s not often we get to honor someone for such an achievement. We were all pleased to be a part of this celebration,” said Kokomo Postmaster Kat Stanley. She and her staff made sure the event was memorable.

The NALC provided a catered meal in recognition of Clevenger’s 50 years of service.
