Proposed Relocation DeMotte, IN, Post Office

What:

The U.S. Postal Service will mail a postcard to the impacted community announcing a proposed relocation of retail services of the DeMotte, IN, Post Office, located at 825 S Halleck Street, DeMotte, IN 46310. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Background:

Due to space constraints at the current facility, the Postal Service is now looking for a new retail location within the 46310 ZIP Code.

The desired size of the new facility needs to be one of the following:
(a) an existing building, approximately 1,200 square feet for retail operations only, with parking, or
(b) an existing building, approximately 5,400 square feet for retail and delivery operations, with dedicated parking.

The postal service will consider renovation and expansion of the existing facility as well.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue at the current Post Office until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

We are inviting comments on the proposal and request they be sent to the following address within the next 45 days: United States Postal Service, ATTN: DeMotte, IN, Main Office Relocation, PO BOX 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103.
