HAMMOND, IN — The U.S. Postal Service recently welcomed employees to an event celebrating the opening of the Hammond Sorting and Delivery Center (SDC) located at 5530 Sohl Ave., Hammond, IN 46230. The special event offered employees a first look at the Postal Service’s latest investments to improve the employee experience and provide the community and surrounding regions with faster, more reliable service.

The modernized Hammond SDC is a culmination of the cultural change throughout the Postal Service, focused on innovation, collaboration, problem-solving and competition. Modernizing local facilities is a core tenet of the Delivering for America plan. As the Postal Service continues its path toward financial sustainability and high operating performance, these efforts not only enhance operational precision and delivery efficiency but also prioritize a better working environment for employees to ensure a safer and healthier workplace.

Changes include improvements to operations across Indiana such as facility renovations, state-of-the-art package sorting machines, and additions to the delivery fleet.
