The U.S. Postal Service has mailed a postcard to the impacted community, announcing a proposed relocation of retail services of the Grandview, IN, Post Office, previously located 302 Main St., Grandview, IN 47615. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Who:

Background:

Due to space constraints at the current facility, the Postal Service is now looking for a new retail location within the 47111 ZIP Code. The desired size of the new facility needs to be one of the following:

  1. Retain the existing facility as a retail only post office and relocate delivery operations to either a leased building, or new construction building approximately 7,000 - 9,600 SF and designated parking, or
  2. Relocation of retail services only to an approximately 850 SF leased building with parking; or
  3. Relocation of full postal operations to a new or leased building 7,000 - 9,600 SF, with designated parking.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Retail Services will continue at the current Post Office until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

We are inviting comments on the proposal and request they be sent to the following address within the next 45 days: United States Postal Service, ATTN: Charlestown, IN, Main Office Relocation, PO BOX 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103.
