VALPARAISO, IN – Letter Carrier Mike Daly was recently recognized for his 50 years of federal service. Daly has worked as a Valparaiso letter carrier his entire career.

During a celebration at the Valparaiso Post Office, postal officials celebrated Daly’s milestone with a special presentation of his 50-year Service Award and pin. Postmaster Biljana Janeska thanked Daly for his many years of dedicated service as part of the Indiana postal family. “Mr. Daly is an amazing employee. Loyal and dedicated employees like him are the foundation to our success at the Post Office. We appreciate his service and all his hard work throughout half a century,” she said.

Daly has delivered the same route for 44 years. “I’ve seen many changes on my route as well as in the city of Valparaiso. I remember children who used to follow me while I was delivering who are now grandparents!” His route has a mix of business and residential customers. “My route is 100% walking so I get to interact with my customers and I also get good exercise.”

“We don’t deliver as much letter mail as we used to deliver. These days, we have many more parcels,” Daly said, referring to the most significant changes he’s seen in his long career.
