CENTRAL CITY, KY — The Postal Service will honor Central City Part-time Flexible Letter Carrier Timothy Banser and Acting Supervisor Kristina Wilson as Postmaster General Heroes for their actions aiding a disoriented senior citizen found wandering the streets. A special presentation will take place at the Central City Post Office, 201 W. Broad Street, 42330, on Wednesday, January 19, at 8:00 a.m.

This fall while delivering mail, Banser noticed an elderly customer on the street and stopped to ask if she needed assistance. Banser, an Army veteran, could tell by her responses she should not be left alone. He called the post office to discuss the situation with Wilson, who contacted local emergency personnel and went to the scene. There, she and Banser stayed with the woman until police arrived and her husband was contacted. The husband expressed his appreciation for Banser and Wilson’s efforts to keep his wife safe.

“We are so proud of Tim and Kristina for showing how much they care for our customers and the entire Central City community,” said Acting Postmaster Gerda Davis.

The Postmaster General Hero Award is given to those who perform a heroic act above and beyond the call of duty while on the job.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
