Recognizes Stanford’s 250th Anniversary

Stadford, KY 250th anneversary postmark

STANFORD, KY — The Postal Service is offering a special pictorial postmark to celebrate Stanford’s 250th anniversary. The postmark will be offered to the public at the Stanford Post Office, 113 Cane Run Rd., on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The postmark was designed by the city as part of the celebration events planned for Sept. 18-20 to commemorate the 250-year anniversary of the founding of Stanford.

Those who wish to obtain the postmark but are unable to visit the Stanford Post Office on Sept. 20 may submit a mail order request. Pictorial postmarks are available only for the date indicated (Sept. 20, 2025), and requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the requested pictorial postmark date.

All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail® postage. Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark. Such items will be returned unserviced.

Customers wishing to obtain a postmark must affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: Pictorial Postmarks, followed by the Name of the Station, Address, City, State, ZIP Code, as listed next to the postmark.

Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service returns the items under addressed protective cover.
