Final Decision

Lost Creek, KY, Post Office

LOST CREEK, KY – In accordance with 39 C.F.R. § 241.4, this is the United States Postal Service’s final decision with respect to the proposal to relocate retail services from the above-referenced Post Office. USPS has initially identified a new location at 9835 Hwy 15 S., Lost Creek, KY 41348. If this location is not adequate or an agreement cannot be reached with its owner, other sites will be considered.

The Postal Service outlined the proposal with a postcard to local residents and businesses on February 13, 2025, asking for community input. After carefully considering all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as comments received from the public, we have decided to proceed with the relocation.

This relocation is necessary because a flood in 2022 damaged the facility beyond repair. We anticipate providing the same services at the new location as were previously provided to our customers a 9950 Hwy 15 S., Lost Creek, KY 41348. In the interim, a temporary trailer has been placed on the existing site. The trailer is used to service PO Box customers only with no retail services. Relocation to new space is necessary to reestablish retail and permanent PO Box services to the Lost Creek community.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Lost Creek community, we properly considered community input, and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives.

USPS operations are not supported by tax dollars. To be self-sustaining, we must make decisions to ensure we provide adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.

This is the final decision of the Postal Service with respect to this matter, and there is no right to further administrative or judicial review of this decision.
