Proposed relocation of the Lancaster, KY, Post Office

What:

The U.S. Postal Service will mail a postcard to the impacted community, announcing a proposed relocation of the Lancaster, KY, Post Office, located at 107 Danville Street, Lancaster, KY 40444. The postcard provides information about the public comment period.

Who:

USPS Real Estate Specialist Dawn Moore

Background:

Due to severe space constraints at the facility, the Postal Service is now looking for a new retail location within the 40444 ZIP Code. The desired size of the new facility needs to be one of the following: (a) an existing building, approximately 800 square feet, with dedicated parking, for retail operations only, or (b) a vacant land site to lease, approximately 14,000 square feet, in which the Postal Service can bring in a postal-owned modular building, or (c) an existing building, approximately 5,000 square feet, with dedicated parking, for the relocation of delivery operations only or delivery and retail operations.

The relocation project will consist of procuring a suitable substitute location, as close as reasonably possible to the existing location. Lancaster customers may continue to access Retail Services at the current facility until all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

We are inviting comments on the proposal and request they be sent to the following address within the next 45 days: United States Postal Service, ATTN: Lancaster, KY, Main Office Relocation, PO BOX 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103.
