Background:

The Postal Service generally hires mail processing positions, customer service clerks, mail carriers, postmasters, and supervisors. Currently, there are immediate job openings in Covington, LA and across the state. They include:

  • Rural Carrier Associate: Cases, delivers, and collects mail along a rural route using a vehicle. Provide customers on the mail route with a variety of services. Hourly rate: $19.06.
  • Assistant Rural Carrier: Delivers and collect packages along routes in rural areas while providing customers with a variety of services. Works indoors and outdoors in all weather. In this position, you can work only weekends and holidays or up to seven days a week. Hourly rate: $19.06.

This job fair is part of the Postal Service’s Delivery for America plan. It includes creating a stable and empowered workforce, especially for associates who are not yet in career positions. In addition, it expands training and long-term career development programs, offers safety improvements, and establishes an Executive Diversity Council to advance a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Applicants must be 18 years old. All applicants must be able to pass drug screening and a criminal background investigation. In addition, applicants must have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger vehicles. The driving must have taken place in the U.S. or its possessions or territories or in U.S. military installations worldwide.
