DUPLESSIS, LA — The Duplessis Post Office, located at 39265 Highway 621, Duplessis, LA 70728, will cease Post Office Box and retail operations at that location on Friday, July 29, at 4:00 p.m. There is no delivery service provided by this office. This is a leased facility and the lessor elected not to renew the lease. Duplessis Post Office Box and retail services are relocating to the Gonzales Post Office, 1706 S. Burnside Ave., Gonzales, LA 70737.
Effective Saturday, July 30, beginning at 8:30 a.m., P.O. Box and retail services will be available at the Gonzales Post Office.
P.O. Box customers who do not retrieve their mail from the Duplessis Post Office by July 29 at 4:00 p.m. can pick up their mail at the Gonzales Post Office, starting the next day. All P.O. Box mail and packages remaining in the office after 4:00 p.m. will be secured and safely moved to the Gonzales location.
Gonzales Post Office retail hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, closed Sunday. Post Office Boxes are in the Post Office lobby and can be accessed 24/7.
P.O. Box customers will keep the same box number, and those who will require a new key will be notified. The current P.O. Box mailing address will remain the same. Only the location of the box will change.
Customers who choose to rent a P.O. Box at any Post Office other than Gonzales Post Office will be required to submit a change-of-address (COA) form. Information on other USPS locations and COA forms can be found at www.usps.com. If a COA is requested, all mail will be forwarded in accordance with Postal Service regulations, and on file COA information.
Customers who choose to discontinue use of their P.O. Box can request a COA request form.
We appreciate our customers’ business and their patience as we work through this transition until alternate retail quarters are identified.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
