Manages USPS Retail & Delivery Services for Independence
INDEPENDENCE, LA & For Jarred Bergeron, "Delivering for America" starts every day in the community where he's lived most of his life. "It's a dream job in a dream town around people I grew up with," says the Independence, LA, Postmaster.
"I started my career as a city carrier in Hammond and became a supervisor in Hammond, Covington, and Denham Springs before being named postmaster in my hometown."
"To me, ‘Delivering for America’ means focusing more on the accuracy of scanning, integrity, and offering a great experience for every customer we serve daily," he says. "It starts in the local Post Office and expands to thousands of other postal professionals moving the mail."
Bergeron says he chose to work for the Postal Service because it offered an excellent opportunity to be closer to home and the opportunity for advancement.
The young postmaster also participates in food drives, coaches track and field, and says he enjoys family time with his two children, Graham Bergeron, 4, and Emilio Bergeron, 1.
"I get to serve my community every day," he says. "I take my position very seriously. As a postal employee, I truly am ‘Delivering for America.’"
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products, and services to fund its operations.
