Allston, MA – Retail operations and Post Office Box services are being suspended effective close of business on Friday, December 13, at the Allston Post Office at 47 Harvard Ave.
Effective Saturday, December 14, Post Office Box customers will be redirected to the Brighton Post Office at 424 Washington St. in Brighton. Their hours of operation are 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and 8 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. Post office Box customers should bring identification and the key to their Allston box to exchange for their new key.
Full retail, shipping and passport services are available in Brighton or at the following nearby locations:
Brookline Post Office at 1295 Beacon St.
Soldiers Field Post Office at 117 Western Ave.
Harvard Sq. Post Office at 125 Mt. Auburn St.
Central Sq. Post Office at 770 Mass. Ave.
Street delivery in Allston will not be impacted but, if customers receive a notice for a signature required or oversized item, they will need to go to the Brighton Post Office the next day to retrieve it.
This temporary suspension and relocation of services is necessary while some structural repairs are made to the Allston facility. There is no set timeline as yet for the completion of those repairs, but a reopening date will be announced as soon as that is available.
Allston customers experiencing any delivery issues can call the Allston Manager’s office at (617) 654-5072
Questions related to the temporary suspension should be directed to Customer Relations Coordinator Fran Griffith at (617) 654-5099
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
