WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS — While retail lobbies are closed, the Postal Service will be delivering parcels in select locations on Monday, May 25, 2020.
Monday marks the 49th year the United States has observed the last Monday in May to honor our veterans – specifically the brave men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
We are proud to say that for more than two centuries, the Postal Service has been one of America’s largest employers of veterans with over 100,000 in our ranks. Here in Western Massachusetts, we have 243 working veterans and 886 in Connecticut.
Originally known as Decoration Day, Memorial Day originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
As we round the curve of the current health crisis, the Postal Service would like to take a moment to thank all military veterans for their service.
As always, customers may continue to use the Postal Service’s online store 24/7 for all their postal needs.
