Marlborough Post Office Celebrates 124 Years of Service by Five Letter Carriers

MARLBOROUGH, MA — The Marlborough Post Office recognized four letter carriers for serving 25 years in a recent ceremony and honored one retiree.

During the presentation, Marlborough Postmaster Nicholas Tselikis said the celebrated carriers all have an “outstanding work ethic and are very well loved by the public. Twenty-five years is a long time working for an organization.”

Letter Carrier Mark Rice, who has worked all 25 years in Marlborough and currently has 613 delivery points on his route, said, “It’s gone really fast. It’s been a great opportunity. I’ve enjoyed it, and I’m looking forward to the future.”

Chris Erba, also a letter carrier, has 418 delivery points covering east Marlborough. “It’s been an easy 25 years plus.”

“It doesn’t seem like 25. It’s an enjoyable job,” said Letter Carrier Tim Patton, who has worked all 25 years in Marlborough, and has 959 delivery points, which include apartments.

Letter Carrier Jessie Liberis, who was also celebrated, delivers to businesses on the west side of town with 469 delivery points.

Each of these carriers received a certificate from Executive Postmaster Boston Jim Murphy that read:

“In appreciation of your extended service to the United States Government and to the United States Postal Service in particular, this 25-year Service Award Pin is hereby presented.

“This program was established to recognize employees who have completed various milestones in their many years of creditable service to the government.

“The good reputation enjoyed by the Postal Service is based upon the loyal service of people like you, and I am proud to commend you for your contribution.”

The fifth carrier recognized during the awards ceremony, retiree Dan Fontes, carried mail for 24 years, concluding his delivery days on a west side route which included business and residential addresses. Dan said of working outdoors, “I love the freedom.”
