Postal Service to Host Customer Appreciation Day on Aug. 31

Special T-Rex Postmark Designed by Local Artists Available to Customers

BALTIMORE – District Manager Darryl Martin will host a “Customer Appreciation Day” on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon at the following Post Offices:

  • Aberdeen Post Office, located at 30 W Bel Air Ave., Aberdeen, MD 21001
  • Middle River Post Office, located at 200 Wilson Point Rd., Baltimore, MD 21220
  • Raspeburg Post Office, located at 6502 Belair Rd., Baltimore, MD 21206

“The events are an opportunity to show our customers how much we appreciate their business, answer their questions, and to celebrate very special pictorial postmarks specific to each community’s Post Office,” said Martin.

Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) pictorial postmarks — created by three local artists, 9, 10 and 11 years old — will be available. The postmark celebrates the Postal Service’s new Tyrannosaurus Rex Forever stamps that go on sale nationwide Aug. 29. News of the stamp is being shared on Twitter with the hashtag #USPSTRexStamps.

The Customer Appreciation Day is open to the public and free for customers.

The postmark is free of charge and will be available for 30 days until Oct. 1.  Postmarks can be obtained by:

  • Affixing postage to an envelope or postcard, addressing the envelope or postcard for mailing, and placing the envelope or postcard in a larger cover envelope.
  • Sending stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for cancellation, as long as a larger envelope with adequate postage and a return address are provided for the item to be returned to the requestor.

Address mail order cancellation requests to Post Offices above.

After applying the pictorial cancellation, the Postmaster or station manager will return the item(s) to the requestor or addressee.

Customers will also be able to learn more about postal products, services and special features such as Informed Delivery, which allows residential customers to receive emails with images of their letter-sized mail expected to arrive soon. To sign up or find more information on Informed Delivery, go to www.InformedDelivery.com.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
