The U.S. Postal Service expects to deliver more than 28 million packages per day between Dec.16-21, and will average 20.5 million packages per day through the remainder of the year. With a projected 800 million package deliveries between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, the Postal Service delivers more packages to homes than any other shipper.
During the tour, reporters are encouraged to arrange for “live shots” for local news broadcasts. USPS holiday facts and information will be made available. Information is also available at the Postal Service Holiday Newsroom: http://about.usps.com/holidaynews.
(Note: For safety reasons, those who accept this invitation must wear closed toe/closed heel shoes; heels must be no more than 1.5 inches in height.)
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
