Poolesville Descendant Celebrates 42 Years of Service at Post Office

POOLESVILLE, MD — The United States Postal Service is thrilled to celebrate Ron Poole, a dedicated retail associate who has faithfully served the Poolesville community for over 42 years. Ron’s commitment and exceptional service have made him a beloved figure in the community.

In 1760, brothers John Poole, Sr. and Joseph Poole, Sr. purchased 160 acres in the area that is now Poolesville. The first Post Office was established at Poole’s store in 1810 and Joseph, Richard and Frederick Poole held the position of Postmaster in 1829, 1831 and 1839 respectfully and now descendant Ron as a retail associate 185 years later. He began as a rural carrier associate in 1982 and transferred to a clerk position in 1984 where he’s been serving customers ever since.

“Winters can be tough around here,” Poole said.  “When I found out I could work inside and still provide great customer service, it was not a tough decision.”

Over the years, Ron has become a familiar face to countless customers, known for his warm smile, helpful attitude, and outstanding service. His deep knowledge of postal operations and genuine care for the community have made him an indispensable part of the Poolesville Post Office.

“We know our customers all so well that when new customers enter our lobby, it gives us a chance to welcome them to the Poolesville family,” said Ron.

Ron exemplifies the dedication and community spirit that the Postal Service strives to embody," said Kami Hoffman, manager, post office operations of USPS. "We are proud to honor him and celebrate his positive impact.”

The United States Postal Service has been an essential part of American life since its inception. Committed to providing reliable, affordable mail service to every address in the country, USPS plays a crucial role in maintaining communication and commerce across the nation.
