USPS Celebrates Beauty of Appalachian Trail

Annapolis Rock part of Appalachian Trail Forever stamps series

MIDDLETOWN, MD — The Boonsboro Appalachian Trail Community Advisory Committee and Boonsboro Economic Development Commission hosted the Appalachian Trail Forever stamp dedication and unveiling this morning at the Washington Monument State Park in Middletown.

The Maryland Appalachian Trail Stamp was unveiled which features Annapolis Rock, a popular hiking destination along the Appalachian Trail in southern Washington County. The overlook is near the eastern county line which is featured on the Maryland stamp in the U.S. Postal Service's Appalachian Trail collection. The Maryland stamp features a sunset highlighting the fall foliage in the Hagerstown Valley section of the trail. Boonsboro is a town located near the Appalachian Trail and is considered an Appalachian Trail Community, offering a welcome respite for hikers.

Distinguished speakers included Jeff Cline, Washington County Commissioner, Howard Long, Mayor of Boonsboro, Sandi Marra, CEO, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Tiffany Ahalt, Visit Hagerstown & Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Maria Johnson, Postmaster, Boonsboro.

A special pictorial cancellation celebrating today’s dedication will be available at the Boonsboro Post Office until May 25, 2025, in addition to Appalachian Trail First Day of Issue products and commemoratives.
