WINTHROP, MAINE— Postal managers, community leaders, elected officials, representatives from the chamber of commerce, and members of the public celebrated the grand reopening of the newly rebuilt Winthrop Post Office at a 12 p.m. ceremony on Thursday, October 10. Damaged in a 2017 fire, the Post Office at 112 Main Street underwent a major reconstruction from the ground up.
In addition to Winthrop Postmaster Scott Allarie, the celebrants supporting the festivities included: Winthrop Town Council Chair Sarah P. Fuller, District 81 State Representative Craig V. Hickman, District 14 State Senator Shenna L. Bellows, Winthrop Lakes Chamber of Commerce President Bill Stone, Scott Wilkinson from U.S. Senator Angus S. King Jr.’s office, Mark J. Winter from U.S. Senator Susan Collins’ office, Pam Trinwary from Congresswoman Chellie Pingree’s office, and U.S. Postal Service Northern New England District Consumer & Industry Contact Manager Lesley Blethen .
“We are pleased to be able to reopen the Winthrop Post Office and excited about providing the community and our employees with a brand new facility,” emphasized Winthrop, ME Postmaster Scott Allarie.
With the reopening, normal retail business hours are resuming at the Winthrop, ME Post Office: Mon - Fri 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Sat 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
